Synopsis:
John Dawson, a steel mill owner, loses his footing and his company in an accident set up by Jim Murray, an unscrupulous secretary and treasurer.

After meeting a blind peddler, Merchant, he organizes beggars, peddlers, and disabled people, creates a system to pay membership fees, and travels around the country under a false name.
