Sinners in Paradise is a 1938 American film directed by James Whale.

In 1966, 28 years after its release, it entered the public domain in the United States because its copyright registration was not renewed.

Synopsis:
A seaplane departing for China.

A nurse who escapes a loveless marriage to work with refugees, a woman who wants to surprise her estranged son, a wealthy heiress who tries to distance herself from labor issues, a greasy politician, a womanizer and a mobster fleeing the wrath of a betrayed gangster, two rival military salesmen who try to take advantage of the misery of war, and a fresh-faced young butler.

Caught in a storm that changes its course, the plane is destroyed, its captain killed, and the surviving passengers thrown overboard.

They find themselves washed ashore on an isolated island inhabited only by Mr.
