The Tramp (also known as The Tramp) is a 1917 silent American comedy short film in which the protagonist of Charlie Chaplin's The Tramp plays an immigrant accused of theft on a voyage across the Atlantic, who befriends a young woman along the way.

Synopsis:
Charlie is heading to America.

He wins a card game and puts the money in Edna's bag (she and her sick mother had been deprived of everything).

When he keeps some of the money for himself, he is accused of being a thief.

Edna clears him of the charges.

Later, Charlie, who is now broke, finds a coin and enters a restaurant.

There, he finds Edna, who lost her mother, and invites her to have dinner with him.

When I reached for the coin to pay for the meal, it was gone (it had fallen down a hole in my pocket).
